The Habit of being Responsible - Integrity

Integrity is defined as “the following of moral or ethical principles, and doing the same as what you say.”

People with integrity are those who take responsibility for their actions. These people do not make excuses to get out of commitments, they keep them.  Essentially, they keep their word, doing what they say they are going to do and doing something because it is right and not beneficial to them. Yup that is difficult and a big pill to swallow…doing something that is right and not beneficial…

Samuel was a man of integrity. When his sons were taking bribes and corrupting justice the people did not want Samuel’s family to lead them and begged for a king. Samuel stayed true. Even though becoming King would have benefited him and his family, Samuel knew God would give them a king, so he did not stand in the way.

Integrity seems like a might big word, however the bible tells us:
In Psalm 25:21 “May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you.”
In Proverbs 10:9 we read “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.”
In Proverbs 11:3 “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.”

Do you keep every commitment? Are you keeping your word? Are you doing what is right? Even when no one is looking?

Dear Abba,
I thank you for being the loving, forgiving, merciful father! Abba, show us any area that lacks integrity and give us the wisdom to make the changes and the right choices that will make us responsible women of integrity.

Amen
