The Habit of Faith!!!! To me, this is the bottom line of it all. This is where the rubber hits the road in our walk with JESUS. This is THE basis for our prayers and our praises!!! This is also where the enemy tries to attack for if he can weaken our faith, we lose our power AND our hope!!! Spiritual disciplines feed our faith, so we need to make certain we are staying diligent in our daily disciplines; prayer, praise, reading HIS word, just making sure we spend time with our Heavenly Father!! Hebrews 11, the faith chapter is an awesome place to go to read about faith!!!
In Mark 9, we find the story of JESUS healing the demon possessed boy. We see the boy's father exclaiming to JESUS, "I DO believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" He was asking for his faith to be increased and we can and should do that, too!!! In my study BIBLE, the reference to this story tells us that the attitude of faith and confidence that the BIBLE calls belief or faith is not something we can obtain without help. Faith is a gift from GOD. No matter how much faith we have, we never reach the point of being self-sufficient. Faith is not stored away like money in the bank. Growing in faith is a constant process of daily renewing our trust in JESUS.
Our faith, our hope is assurance in the ONE who did not stay in the grave. The ONE who saves, forgives, loves, and carries us through is JESUS, and HE is all we need. In the midst of our trials, our tribulations in life, (and JESUS promises we'll have those) we MUST keep our eyes on JESUS. In the midst of my storms, I am thrown back to the story of the disciples in the boat with JESUS during the storm. JESUS asks Peter to come to him, to walk on the water. As long as Peter kept his eyes on ESUS, he walked on the water, he wasn't aware of the storm around him. It was only when he took his eyes off JESUS did he start to sink!!
Feeble faith focuses on people, on problems-NOT on JESUS and we won't ever be our best until our faith is strong!! Let's ask our FATHER to strengthen our faith, just as Abraham did so that we can be our absolute best for HIM!!!
Dear Heavenly Father,
I praise YOUR NAME for all that YOU are doing in each of our lives. I thank YOU for the storms that we encounter, for it's in those storms that we can grow stronger in our faith in YOU. LORD, we know that our faith is the basis of our walk with YOU, we know that we can't be our best until our faith is strong. I come to you this day to ask that YOU would shore up our faith, that YOU would help each of us grow stronger in YOU, that our faith would be so incredibly strong that no matter what happens in our lives, we can always keep our eyes on YOU and not on the storms around us so that we don't sink, but we walk with YOU!!! THANK YOU for your constant love and YOUR constant presence in our lives, always carrying us!!!
All this I ask in the precious, strong and might name of JESUS, our LORD and SAVIOR who died for us on the cross. AMEN
