Chapter 5 - Behavior 2 - God's Good Plan / One Good Habit Leds to Another

Behavior 2 - Thoughts, Words, Habits / One good Habit Leads to another

God's Good Plan

This week we are going to focus on  behaviors.  Behaviors that can make you or break you. We all know that God's plan is the ULTIMATE plan.  That God's plan trumps any plan we can possibly come up with for our life.  That if we follow Him he is going to take us exactly where we are supposed to go, including providing us with eternal life.  THAT is the greatest plan of all.  He will meet us right where we are - whether that's in a pit of destruction or in ministry.

Is it easy to wait upon this plan?  Is it easy to sit back and get out of the way so God can work in our lives and prepare us for this plan?  Of course not.  It takes work - it takes action - and it is going to take time. Daily time.  We are human, we live in the flesh and we have emotions. We want things when we want them and aren't willing to do what it takes to follow through. We don't want it bad enough to take action. To make the necessary changes.

In Joshua 1:8 we are taught that we must read and meditate on the Word.  We do that right? ....sure sometimes, but to what degree?  In order for us to have success in waiting on God's plan - on following him - we must read and talk about it regularly and in all we do.  In Joshua 1:9 Joshua is told to fear not, be strong and courageous - and how can that be done?  By focusing on God's Word and believing!  God's Word is full of promises ~ within God's word we can find scriptures to bring peace, scriptures to motivate, scriptures that teach us how to love one another.....the book is endless! And we have access to it.  These scriptures give us a means to a good life, to God's plan.  We must READ and BELIEVE. Meditate, write our scriptures and use them on a daily basis. Fill our minds with God's word.

We will continue in this chapter talking about the power of words.  Words - they roll off of our tongue day in and day out.  They can cut like a knife or ice a cake, the choice is yours.  Proverbs 18 tells us just how powerful words can be, that they can bring life or death for us.  We must learn to speak life.  Positive. Encouraging. Uplifting. Words that build instead of bury.  In James 3:8 it says: But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison.
Bottom line ladies, Thoughts and Words, they define us and they don't have to.  We must begin retraining our minds and our mouths. Satan is going to fill us with lies every day and if we let those lies penetrate our minds, hearts, and mouths - He wins.  And we begin down a path that does not lead to God's perfect plan.  WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH HIM. Satan Lies! We are made in God's image and are to follow His example in all things, this means changing the way we think, the way we believe, the words we say - all can lead to the greatest positive changes in our life or move us into a pit of destruction.  The choice is ours.

So, What do we need to do to accomplish what God set out for us?  Start and Make Good Habits.  One good habits leads to another:

1) Read and Meditate on His word Daily, Continuously.  Make our index cards and place them strategically throughout our workplaces, our homes, our cars - every place that you spend your time so you are consciously or unconsciously reading them and meditating on them.

2) BELIEVE - train yourself to BELIEVE - in yourself, in your abilities, in God's promises. If you believe, you will achieve. We must retrain our minds. There is no place in our minds for Satan's lies. We must focus on the continuous renewal of our thoughts.  We must focus on promises.

3)  Work on your tongue. Let everything that comes out of your mouth be something that would come out of the mouth of our Savior.  POSITIVE. ENCOURAGING. LOVING. STRONG IN HIM.  Guard your tongue.  Be aware.  WORDS are powerful. We must use them to bring only goodness in all situations.  Negative words have no place on our tongues.

As we close for today, remember:
and so can you!

Dear God.  Thank you for the lesson of words.  May we take this teaching and put it to use in our lives today.  As we walk through the day and into the night may we only say those things that show light and give you glory.  May we keep our thoughts trained on you - so they will remain positive and encouraging, and help us to remember our God Habit. Open our hearts so we will receive your word and understand it and believe it daily - continuously through our days and our nights.  We love you Father and are so thankful for the promises and blessings you provide.  It's in your name we pray. Amen.
